What do bread tags, aluminum tabs, bottle caps and shopping lists have in common? They serve one single use before being thrown away- until now. Repurposed Reimaginings is a collection within a collection; artwork made from discarded items. While noticing famous art works reinterpreted and other inspirations, viewers can see
junk justified,
garbage glamorized,
trash transformed.
Julia Virginia Win is a reuse artist and educator. She is a self-taught artist, starting first with watercolor portraits and landscapes. In 2023, she won the Middlesex County Mural Design Contest. Since then, Julia has completed several local public art installations and murals, creating art from discarded materials. Julia’s motivation comes from her deep commitment to the environment, whether shopping secondhand, doing outdoor cleanups or hosting community clothing or supply swaps. Julia holds a Master of Education degree from UCSB and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Montclair State University. She works as a preschool teacher but she also enjoys teaching artcycle classes to all ages! In her “free” time, Julia likes to go indoor rock climbing, watch the Yankees, and spend time with her family. Julia and her husband Tom have two boys, Lennox (5) and Ellison (3), and reside in Metuchen, NJ. A huge thanks to her “Julia Jar” junk collectors, near and far!
